Frequently Asked Questions About Epifacial®
Who are the candidates for this treatment?
Most people,
including children, may be treated. However, your doctor should
determine if your condition is suitable for the treatments. This
may require a consultation visit.
What is a treatment like?
Treatment involves a pulsed light, similar to the flash or a camera.
You may feel a slight pinch or snap of a rubber band. No local
anesthesia or pain medication is required.
Are there side effects?
You may experience some short-term side effects. This may include
slight reddening of the skin or local swelling, which goes away
within a few days. In rare instances there may be some blistering
or transitory pigmentation changes.
How many treatments are required?
Freckles, age spots, and sun spots often clear after one treatment.
Other blemishes may take one to three treatments. Each session
generally lasts 15-20 minutes.
Will insurance cover my treatment?
Insurance coverage varies according to carrier and the nature
of the medical problem. Your doctor and insurance company can
answer this question. Treatments of a cosmetic nature are often
not covered.
Are there restrictions on my activity after treatment?
You can return to work the same day and resume all regular activities.
You should limit exposure to the sun, and sun block is highly
recommended.
Is Epifacial® better than other treatment methods?
Epifacial® is an innovative patented technique that allows
your doctor to customize the treatment specifically for your skin
type and blemishes. This flexible interactive approach to treatment
can not be achieved with any laser or other non-invasive method
currently available.
